Winter Gardening

Winter is for indoor flowers
while outside some early beauties have appeared

Purple hellebores

and white ones too

the euphorbia isn't far behind

Elsewhere there are promises of beauty to come

the monkshood is peeking out
and there are buds all around

on the white clematis

the red rhododendron

and the flowering quince

All I need now is a little patience . . .

It is so wonderful to think about blossoms while everything is so dreary and brown.

Here is the recipe:

1 - 10 oz. pkg. frozen chopped broccoli, thawed and drained
1 small finely chopped onion
1 stick butter, melted
4 eggs, lightly beaten
1 Jiffy corn muffin mix
3/4 c. cottage cheese

Combine broccoli, onion, melted butter, eggs and corn bread mix. Mix well. Lightly stir in cottage cheese. Fill muffin tins and bake at 375 degrees 20 to 25 minutes. Remove from oven and brush top with butter. Makes 15 -18 muffins. Enjoy!!!

Your pictures were a welcome relief from the snow that has been in my garden since Thanksgiving. Thank you!

I can't believe that your flowers are starting to come up...I still have knee deep snow here.
